One of the best things about flying through DFW, AUS or IAH is that Texas BBQ is readily available. In this case, a platter of smoked turkey and brisket from Salt Lick BBQ made for a delicious lunch in DFW as I waited on my connection back to RDU.
One word of caution, however. Airport BBQ is not the same as getting it from the original location. There’s no pit to smoke the meat at the airport, so it has to be shipped in and re-heated. So if you’re in Texas and have a good enough layover, try leaving the airport and getting some fresh BBQ from pitside, you won’t regret it!
